Visit Lancashire Summer Guide 2026

The Anderton Centre

ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS IN LANCASHIRE’S LITTLE LAKE DISTRICT

Many of Chorley’s visitors are familiar with Rivington Pike and the Rivington Terraced Gardens (find out more about this in our Walks with a Wow Factor Article) but if you ask any local, you’ll find so many more great outdoor activities in Chorley. Those who love a hike can’t go wrong with a walk from the beautiful hamlet of White Coppice up Great Hill, or with a trip round Anglezarke Moor with its reservoirs and meandering brooks.

For a wheelchair or pushchair friendly walk, give Yarrow Valley a try too, the flat circular route, with a stunning hidden waterfall is a great day out and ends with a play park for the kids to enjoy! If you are looking for more adventurous activities to enjoy, then the Anderton Centre has you covered with its pay and play paddleboarding on the beautiful Rivington reservoir.
