Take part in a Viking invasion

Heysham is a beautiful coastal village overlooking Morecambe Bay. Still a ferry port with passenger ships to the Isle of Man and fleet ships to Ireland, its location was ideal for the Viking settlers of the 800s making their way to the strongholds in Dublin and on the Isle of Man. Honouring the true Viking spirit of the time, a Viking village encampment complete with fierce battle re-enactments invades the coastal village of Heysham each July. Expect Viking themed activities and plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in historical culture, this is an unmissable event for Viking lovers everywhere and takes place on 18 th and 19 th July. Don’t miss the chance to visit St Peters Church where a Viking Hogback has been carefully preserved for posterity and take a stroll along the cliffside and imagine the invading longboats crossing the sea.
