Hear the stories of Lancashire’s transport engineers Do you have a loved one obsessed with cars, lorries, buses or fire engines? Then Leyland is the place for you this summer. The British Commercial Vehicle Museum is home to hundreds of vehicles from the 1800s to modern day. Housed in the original inspection building of Leyland Motors, the museum houses everything from vintage vans to retro buses, all on display and many to interact with. The story of energy and innovation unfolds from the use of horse drawn carts to the hybrid and electric vehicles on our roads today. It really is like stepping back in time. Join in the fun at the UKs largest transport themed event The Fleetwood Festival of Transport, also known as Tram Sunday, is a must for anyone who loves things with wheels! This free event takes place on 19 th July and sees the entire town centre transformed into a showcase of impressive vehicles. Marvel at shiny classic cars, vintage vans, buses from back in the day and of course, traditional trams travelling along the seafront. The day really isn't to be missed, having taken place since 1985, it has grown into a huge community event featuring performers, parades, music and the chance to make some amazing memories. It's a great way to see all kinds of transport from the past whilst enjoying creative arts from the modern world.

Swing in time to the music Did you know Lancashire was once home to the only manufacturer of jukeboxes in the UK? Ditchburn Equipment Ltd helped UK hospitality venues add a swing to their step during the ban on non-essential imported goods was in place during the 1940s. While more culturally associated with America, Jukeboxes were popular within many UK cafes and bars especially with teenagers in the 1940s and 50s when they couldn't hear their favourite artists on mainstream radios. These days you’ll be hard pressed to find one in Lancashire’s hospitality venues but thankfully the Ditchburn Jukebox Museum in Lytham has a range of the machines ready and raring to bring a bit of rock and roll history to life.
