WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre
A day of splashing, dipping, playing,
Martin Mere Martin Mere is one of Lancashire's most popular visitor attractions and for good reason. Part of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust network, WWT Martin Mere is a wetlands centre where families can really get in touch with nature and wildlife. A day of splashing, dipping, playing, paddling and more awaits visits when they explore the 800 acres! In addition to the 70 wetland species birdwatching opportunities, there are canoe safaris, guided boat tours, play areas and great events to join in with at the centre. What's more, it is an accessible day out for all the family, with extra consideration been taken to ensure those with limited mobility can enjoy the outdoors too! Lancaster Castle Who wouldn't want to visit a castle owned by The King? Lancaster Castle is owned by King Charles III and whilst the royal family have never lived in the building, he has his own set of keys! A historic place of justice, the Castle was a working prison until 2011 and visitors are welcome to explore the jail cells as part of a tour, or by popping into the free Lancashire Police Museum, during their time in the grounds. The courtyard is open to everyone and houses a fantastic tearoom and a series of shops owned by local craftspeople.
