Astley Hall and Park Situated in one of the most picturesque parklands in the county, the Grade I listed Astley Hall is a fascinating building offering a unique insight into over 400 years of history and the lives of those who once called it home. Visitors can find out all of Lady Susannah Hoghtons secrets and witness some breathtaking mid-17 th century plaster ceilings and rare painted panelling and oak furniture. Next door you’ll find the Coach House which is home to the information centre and gift shop, as well as revolving exhibition space, and Cafe Ambio serving mouthwatering food and drink. Astley Park is home to acres of woodland, manicured lawns and amazing play areas too. The Park is a must visit in the summer, especially in July when Chorley Flower Show takes over the grounds to make way for stunning floral displays and exciting activities for the family to enjoy.
Witton Country Park Looking for easily accessible parks to spend those long summer days and enjoy picnics with the family? Lancashire has you covered! One of the top parks close to town in the region has to be Witton Country Park. Located just outside Blackburn, visitors will find 480 acres of countryside peppered with pretty picnic spots, walks, nature trails, play areas and more. There's even a Go Ape on the site, perfect for those thrill seekers in the family! The park may be familiar to visitors who enjoy a multi-day walk, as the epic 32 mile Witton Weavers Way starts within it, but if you don't fancy the entire thing you could embark on the Beamers Trail section, a 6 mile circular route that takes you through the park and into the surrounding countryside, taking in the fabulous Hoghton Bottoms waterfall.
