Pleasure Beach Resort
SMALL VISITOR ATTRACTION, EXPERIENCE AND UNSUNG HERO HAPPA Horse and Ponies Protection Association
LARGE VISITOR ATTRACTION Pleasure Beach Resort Celebrating its 130-year anniversary this year, the Large Visitor Attraction award went to Pleasure Beach Resort. Not only does the resort offer outstanding rollercoasters and rides, but there are also shows, events and other attractions to enjoy while visiting, and you can even sleep in one of two hotels overlooking the park too! Don’t miss your chance to visit this summer and enjoy the brand new Aviktas ride – at 138 feet tall is it the UK’s tallest gyro swing, or the new ice shows that the arena has to offer. CULTURAL VENUE Lowther Pavilion This year's Cultural Venue award was presented to the brilliant Lowther Pavilion. Delivering a fantastic programme of theatrical shows and events, this theatre on the edge of Lytham Green, is a must visit, especially during the summer when they host great family-friendly theatre shows, cinema and events like the Ice Cream Festival in July.
Not content with just winning one award this year, HAPPA came out on top with three! This fantastic charity runs a centre in Briercliffe which is committed to the protection of horses and ponies from around the country. Here you will find a visitor centre where families, animal lovers, and equestrians can connect with horses and nature. The centre offers Experience Days including the “Own a Pony Experience” which won the Experience of the Year award, and a fantastic cafe where you can grab a bite to eat and meet Cafe Manager Andy Black, who was honoured with the Unsung Hero award this year for his commitment to tourism and customer service. FAMILY OWNED OR RUN BUSINESS Thornton Hall Country Park Set on the border of Lancashire, this family run working farm delivers engaging activities and entertainment for all ages. Day-to- day visitors can find farm animals, soft play and great food in the on-farm cafe. The park really comes into its own during its incredible school holiday and seasonal events though, with incredible hands- on entertainment and themed days.
