Visit Lancashire Summer Guide 2026

Darwen Tower Jubilee Tower, also known as Darwen Tower, is a 19 th Century monument which was built to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. Sitting atop a hill overlooking the town of Darwen, you can spot it for miles around, but there's nothing quite like the view when you take a walk up to the tower itself! The hillside that Darwen Tower sits on is within the 90 square miles of unspoilt countryside known as the West Pennine Moors. With walks criss-crossing the entire area, you will be spoilt for choice with which route to take, and the views will astound you.

Pendle Hill

Pendle Hill Another local landmark, Pendle Hill dominates the Lancashire skyline. Shrouded in mystery and magic due to the surrounding area being linked to the Pendle Witch Trials of 1612, there are even Halloween hikes up the hill each year. During the summer it makes for a lovely route, with views over the Forest of Bowland and out towards the Yorkshire Dales, the Fylde Coast and even the Lake District. But be warned, at 557 metres high, it's just 50 metres from being able to call itself a mountain – so it's not an easy walk!
